You need to think about where to keep your money
Applying for any money you're entitled to
If you're studying have you checked that you've applied for all the grants and loans you may be eligible for? If you're not working are you able to claim any benefits? If you're working are you paying the right amount of income tax?
Some debt may be unavoidable, for example students need to take out loans to pay for their courses, but all debt needs to be carefully considered. If you're planning to borrow money to buy something you can't afford with your current income make sure you find out more about it and who can help. If you are having problems and need help a good place to start is the National Debtline. You can also telephone them on 0808 808 4000. Citizens advice can also help and have useful guides to coping with debt on their site.
