Learn a new skill on a course in the UK or overseas

You may need to improve your grades or be keen to get a qualification to help you find temporary skilled work. 

 

Some year out students take short intensive skills-based qualifying courses in subjects such as computing or word-processing so that they can earn money to fund their studies.     

 

Maybe one or more of your subject results was not as good as you hoped? Some students use the year to improve grades to make it easier to find a university place. REMEMBER though that grade offers are often higher for those taking re-sits.

 

You could learn (or improve) a foreign language, to increase your employability and help you when you travel.
