If you are seriously considering a Year Out you need to:
-
Look at both the positive and negative aspects. How do they relate to you? Would you gain more than you might lose? - Contact the admissions tutors for the courses that interest you and check that they are in favour of deferred entry. Explain fully your reasons for taking a year out.
- Use the Find out More section to get more information to help you plan your year out. Start writing to possible contacts, year out agencies and organisations to get more information as soon as possible.
- Make a constructive plan for your year out. Apply for projects and opportunities at the same time as you send your UCAS application form, if you are planning to defer.
- It is important that you explain what your plans are in the relevant section of the UCAS form.
- The Year Out Group website has a section which lists the sort of questions you should be asking before you embark on a gap year project, to help you make your decisions.
