Young Apprenticeships

Young Apprenticeships give you the opportunity to gain workplace experience for up to two days a week and study for a related qualification. If your school offers them they allow you to:

  • study the normal school curriculum, including English, maths, science and ICT
  • take a vocational qualification such as an NVQ as one of your option choices
  • have in total 50 days work experience with an employer, training provider or at college over years 10 and 11
  • keep your options open as you will be able to go on either to a full Apprenticeship in the same occupational area or move on to a general or work-related course at school or college.
