IT in Worcestershire

Statistics about the labour market are collected about:

Levels of occupations - All jobs fall into an occupational category and level. The majority of jobs in IT are at the higher levels of one to three. Level one is managers and senior officials, Level two is professional occupations and Level three is associate professional and technical occupations.

Different areas of the country - such as the West Midlands region and the counties of Herefordshire and Worcestershire. 

When looking at where the jobs are in IT it is is important to look more widely at occupations as many of those who work in IT may work as an IT professional in another sector for example business and finance, public services, security services, construction, engineering or manufacturing.





The numbers employed in Worcestershire in all the three high level occupational groups, as a percentage of all those employed, is:

  • 40.0 per cent in the West Midlands region - lower than the 43.5 per cent average

  • 43.1 per cent in Worcestershire - higher than the regional average

The High Technology Corridor in the West Midlands includes the Central Technology Belt in Worcestershire.


This technology belt runs from Birmingham and on through in to the country from Bromsgrove in North to Malvern in the South.
